Days of Joy

I had a great time with my family this past holiday.  Trying to do everything I meant I fell behind on my blogging.  So I actually failed in my daily blog post promise.  The fear I have is once I miss some it’ll become easier to rationalize missing others.  However I am the only one who controls the way I think.  So I reinforcing my commitment to my positivity blog.  I’ll add two days to my blog to make up for the two I missed or I will write a couple extra if something hits me right.

I don’t regret missing those two days.  After all I was busy living a wonderful loving life surrounded by family that are a blessing to me.

Life isn’t about this blog.  Life is meant to be enjoyed.  That’s the reason I started this blog.  To remind myself daily about the joy of life and perhaps take some of you with me.  The fact that I missed a couple posts because I was too busy enjoying my life is actually a good thing.

Sorry to anyone who actually missed my posts.  I promise to try not to do it again.

Hope your holidays were great as mine were.

As it is Thanksgiving, at time for giving thanks, I thought I’d list just a few of the reasons I am thankful.

These are in no particular order.

1. Family. I am blessed with a really good family.  Not just immediate but extended.

2. Friends.  They say good friends are hard to come by but my experience is the opposite.  My life is filled with good friends.  Friends that are there for me through thick and thin.

3. Food.  Although money may be tight at times there is always food in my belly.

4. Water.  Clean water to drink.  Hell water that I don’t have to walk miles to reach is a blessing.

5. Health.  I am able to see, walk, talk, and hear.  I am relatively healthy and without disease.

6. Home.  I have a home.  A roof over my head, a bed to sleep in, a warm or cool place to sleep.

7. Freedom.  I live in a country where I have freedom.  It was not free and I am thankful for those who have fought for my freedom.

7. God.  He’s certainly not last but I saved Him for last.  He’s the reason I have all the blessings I have.  He is the reason I am blessed.  He loves me.  He’s given his only son for me to be saved.

All of these things bring me joy!

So what are you thankful for?

Thanksgiving is a big deal around here.  My mom’s side of the family comes in for a family reunion at Thanksgiving.  If everyone attends it is about 42 of us.  Unfortunately we haven’t had everyone attend in years.  However a majority still show up regularly.  This year, if my count is right, we will have 29 people here.

Some people shudder at the thought of all those family members together for 3 to 5 days.  But our family has a blast.  There are board games to play.  There are crafts to do.  There is football and other tv to be watched.  There is catching up with each other.  There is lots to eat.  It’s a good time.

We don’t fight.  We aren’t allowed.  When my Grandmaw was alive we didn’t fight because it upset her and we didn’t upset Grandmaw.  After she passed we had been doing our thing so well we didn’t alter it.  IF someone gets on your nerves you just get up and move away from the person, from the situation.  You don’t bring up topics that might be touchy and if someone does you just change subject or once again move.

I love that my family is this close.  I love that we aren’t a negative and fighting family.

We don’t see each other that often.  In fact often this is the only time of year we see each other unless there is a less pleasant reason we have to visit.  But if someone goes into the hospital then yep family is there.  Anytime, for any reason, if you need one of us then we are there.

So yes, Thanksgiving is an important holiday for me because I love my family.

Moving is Fun!?

A.A. Milne wrote Winnie the Pooh

I’ve been readying my home for company. In the process of remodeling and moving my home is a chaotic mess.  However as I move things I find things I didn’t even remember I had.  It’s like a little treasure hunt!

It does make this moving process a bit more fun as you discover items you had forgotten.  Sometimes it’s a gift I bought for someone else.  Sometimes it’s some pictures or a memento that makes me smile.

Sometimes when you’re doing a chore if you can make it fun then it’s… wait a second I believe that piece of wisdom is said best by one of my favorite characters.

I’ve found my spoonful of sugar and enjoying this moving stuff.  Thankfully I can move at my own pace and not feel stressed.  Truly some great wisdom has come from Disney.

Oh and by the way is that song now stuck in your head too? 😉

Flipping a Coin

This made me giggle. I have a coin flip app on my cell. I use it. Mostly at restaurants when I am trying to decide which meal I want. Often it has happened that I land on something and I realize I indeed wanted the other item. Silly me will sometimes try two out of three. Sometimes I will just go with the one I now realize I really wanted.

If only making all my decisions were this easy. Perhaps next time I find myself wavering I will use my app. If it can help me realize what I truly want then it would be useful. Either way it’ll be an interesting experiment.

Of course I am not suggesting I, or anyone, should make my life decisions on the flip of a coin. But sometimes a little whimsy is good for the soul.

Do All the Things!

do all things

This is where my life is right now. Hehehe.

I’ve over booked myself trying to do all the things.  Therefore I cannot wax poetically or even think of something semi-clever to post today.  I almost did not post because I have begun to think quality over quantity as far as my blog goes.  However I committed to doing it once a day, if I skip then I’m not keeping my commitment.  So I am posting a quick post of how crazy I am going right now.  I’m stressed but I am loving doing all the things so it’s all good.
